In this article, we will review a case in which there is a need to change the authentication type from Email to Office 365 for a user. This may be useful if the user was registered in PPM Express using the Email authentication type by mistake and needs to log in using the Office 365 option.
Suppose the invited user follows the link from the invitation email and selects to log in to PPM Express using the Email option. In that case, changing the authentication type to Office 365 will not be possible, as PPM Express has no such functionality. However, there is a workaround that the PPM Express Administrator can use to switch the authentication type.
Please follow the steps described below as a workaround to this case:
1. Navigate to the People Management page in PPM Express.
2. Select the user for whom you need to change the authentication. Deactivate this user.
3. When the user is deactivated, unassign the licenses applied to this user.
4. Select this user, click the ellipsis button to open the menu, and choose Replace option.
5. Replace this inactive user with any existing user on the People Management page.
Please note: When the user is replaced with another user, the corresponding resources will be merged on the Resources page. All user and resource assignments will be merged and applied to the new user. If you have resource duplicates (with the same name), merging these resources before you replace the users is strongly recommended. This way, all user and resource assignments will be merged correctly during the replacement. For more details about how to replace users, please refer to this article.
6. The user will be completely removed. Now, you can invite the user to your PPM Express tenant again by sending the invitation from the People Management page. Please ensure this user uses the "Office 365" option when signing up to PPM Express.
