How to update Power BI Report Pack

In this article, we will review how to update the PPM Express Power BI report pack. 

We will take the PPM Express Raid+ Registry report pack as an example, but the process is the same for all report packs. 

To update the report pack, you need to download the newest available version first. 

To download the report pack from PPM Express, click on the gear button -> Report Settings Page. 

Select the needed report and click on the download link. 

Alternatively, you can download the new version of the report pack directly from Power BI. To do so, click on the report to open it. 

If a new version is available, a corresponding message will appear on the report's home page. Click on this message to download the latest version. 


Delete

Note: The report is downloaded as a .zip file, so you need to extract the files before proceeding to the next steps. 


When the new version is downloaded, open the workspace and click Upload -> Browse -> Select the new report version from your PC. 

Confirm that you want to replace the existing report pack.

Note: The report pack names should be exactly the same for updates. If you changed the name when configuring the pack for the first time, please change it to the new version so that the name is exactly the same. 


Next, open PPM Express and navigate to the Report Settings page. Copy the OData Feed URL.

Open Power BI again and navigate to the settings of the Semantic Model.

Under the Parameters section, change the PPM Express OData Feed URL for the one you have just copied. Click Apply. 

Open the workspace and click Refresh next to the Semantic Model. Wait until the refresh is completed. 

The report is updated to the latest version. It is recommended to refresh the report page now, so the data from the cache does not affect how the report is displayed.
